Certification in Other Countries

In a similar way as it happens in Brazil, telecommunications equipment commercialized in other Latin American countries require the manufacturer/distributor to obtain a permit (certification or homologation), which shall be granted by the corresponding telecommunications regulatory agency of each country. IBRACE can certify telecommunications products all over Latin America.  Our agents and wide range of contacts in each country allow us to request equipment certification and homologation to every Telecommunications Regulatory Agency in Latin America.

We have an exclusive site for international certifications containing specific details about most countries.  Please visit www.ibrace-icbr.com or contact us:

What should I do to get products certified in other Latin American countries?

The first step to start a certification/homologation process in other Latin American countries is to contact IBRACE and send us a technical description of the product that is going to be certified, including a respective list of countries.  Based on such information, we will provide you with explanation on whether formal homologation is required for the listed countries.  If so, we can obtain a homologation certificate from the respective Telecommunications Regulatory Agency in each country you choose.  On the other hand, if no homologation is required, we can request a waiver from the local authorities – a document confirming that the product(s) can be commercialized in their respective countries with no homologation requirement.  This is a quite helpful document as some countries do not have a clear regulation on those matters. That is why in several occasions many doubts arise about the necessity of homologation regarding a particular equipment item.  This waiver (which shall be issued by the country’s government) can also be useful in invitations to bid as well as in customs clearance.

In general terms, only the following countries might occasionally require laboratory in-country tests:

Another point to consider is that only the following countries will mandatorily ask for a local representative/distributor:

In case your company or your customer do not have a local representative or distributor in one of those countries, IBRACE can help you by indicating a trustful certificate holder (with a local address).

For the remaining countries, the tendency is that every certification/homologation process can be conducted based on the FCC certificate reports (USA) or compliance reports and declaration from Europe (CE Marking) or, in a few cases, even test reports and Brazilian homologation certificate (ANATEL).  This makes the certification process easier and faster because there should not be any need to work with sample configuration, sample transport, etc.
